About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join a dynamic Assessment Team within a UK-based local authority. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in safeguarding children, assessing their needs, and ensuring timely interventions that promote positive outcomes for children and families.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct high-quality assessments of children and families, identifying risks and needs in accordance with statutory guidance and best practice.
- Undertake Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) assessments, ensuring that children’s welfare remains paramount.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, educators, and law enforcement, to ensure a holistic approach to assessments and interventions.
- Develop and implement robust care plans, ensuring that recommendations align with the best interests of the child.
- Attend court proceedings and provide well-evidenced reports when required.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and local authority policies.
- Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker (Degree or equivalent in Social Work).
- Registration with Social Work England.
- A minimum of two years’ post-qualifying experience within children’s services, preferably in an assessment team or frontline safeguarding role.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the Care Act 2014.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential, depending on location).
