The Opportunity
Reporting to the Data Science Manager, you will provide expertise in data science and analytical methods. You will also assist the Data Science Team in the development of statistical and analytical best practices and apply these practices to complex NHSR datasets to deliver data insights.
You will develop data science methodologies for ad-hoc analysis, insights work, and for highly complex prediction and statistical models. The person will also contribute to model testing and development activities performed by the Data Science Team.
As this role is based in London and working on a hybrid basis, NHS High-Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) is available on top of the base salary.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Act as an expert for the organisation on data science and analytical methods.
- Develop statistical and analytical best practices and apply them to complex NHSR datasets to deliver data insights.
- Research and develop methodologies for the implementation of highly complex prediction and statistical models.
- Contribute to model testing and development activities performed by the Data Science Team and contribute to deploying a data catalogue to create a consistent, managed pool of data assets.
- Contribute to the development of statistical, mathematical, and predictive modelling for highly complex issues such as claim value prediction.
- Aid in the design of machine learning models to identify risk patterns to drive intelligently NHSR activity such as scenario modelling around risk and payout.
- Assist in granular analysis of each stage of the claims lifecycle to drive changes in the claim processing, improve training, improve data quality, and optimize NHSR resource allocation.
EssentialWhat you’ll bring:
- Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ability to demonstrate significant experience within a similar area of work.
- Considerable experience of using machine learning algorithms (e.g., regression, classification, and NLP).
- In-depth specialist knowledge of statistical data analysis and hypothesis testing on highly complex datasets.
- Advanced level of Python, particularly in the development of machine learning applications.
Desirable
- Experience in at least one cloud platform (preferably Azure) and associated machine learning services, e.g., Azure ML.
- An understanding of software principles such as APIs, Git, DevOps, CI/CD, and MLOps.
