We have the opportunity for a Head of Delegated Authority to join our Delegated Authority department here at Tokio Marine Kiln. You will ensure that the framework for managing and monitoring delegated underwriting is robust and meets the requirements of our regulators. The role also provides vital support to our underwriters to help develop initiatives through this important distribution channel. You will oversee the effective management of delegated authority and bordereaux management risk whilst also ensuring that TMK’s delegated authority team is well coordinated and works in unison with the rest of the business including underwriters to support business and strategy ambitions.
Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic direction for the Delegated Authority department and contribute information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic business thinking and direction.
- Work with underwriting teams and provide direction/guidance to obtain approvals of new delegated authorities and amend existing agreements for new business initiatives.
- Be the main liaison with Lloyd’s and other regulators for all Delegated Authority queries and ensure their requirements are adhered to.
- Establish and continuously improve an effective operating framework for the Delegated Authority department, monitoring and driving performance to meet the needs of the business. This includes processes for onboarding coverholders, TPA onboarding, annual due diligence, slip reviews, mid-term adjustments, audits, bordereaux management, and data/systems.
- Business Sponsor for the Coverholder Transformation Programme to ensure that new and innovative ways of operating are identified and implemented.
- Ensure the effectiveness of the data processing team at Bridgend; manage the relationship and integrate into the London-based DA team.
- Continuously evolve and improve the systems and governance within DA, including through projects and further enhancements of automation tools including DATE.
- Ensure effective communication, collaboration, and intra-team working between the DA team and its internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the career development of the DA team through appropriate coaching, mentoring, and succession planning. Ensure the team’s skills are fit for purpose and evolve as the environment requires.
- Ensure all external partners, TPAs, and coverholders understand and comply with our required conduct risk and compliance standards.
The successful candidate will have exceptional and extensive experience within insurance as well as relevant and up-to-date knowledge of Lloyd’s. They will also have a proven track record of demonstrating value to the business and will be capable of taking a wide view of commerciality and practical effect of proposals and recommendations. We are looking for a leader with management capabilities, who is also calm under pressure.
