Job Description

The role

As we continue to grow in size, scale and complexity, we are looking for a Associate, Product Control to join our Finance organisation. Working as part of our Product Control team, this newly created role will support our trading activity reconciliation to ensure timely and accurate reporting of our balance sheet position.

The successful applicant will be joining at an exciting time as we invest in strengthening our Accounting operations capabilities and improve the quality and robustness of balance sheet reporting, particularly standardisation and automation of reconciliations.

How you’ll make an impact

  1. Perform BAU accounting and reconciliation processes and controls across our key trading account balances such as scheme debtors, merchant creditors and Fx clearing.
  2. Analyse and reconcile data from various systems and sources to identify control gaps and reconciliation breaks.
  3. Collaborate with Product, Treasury and Finance teams to investigate discrepancies, understand the root cause and initiate corrective actions.
  4. Be the SME for reconciliations under your control, you will apply your accounting knowledge to ensure balances are properly accounted for in line with IFRS requirements.
  5. Set-up documentation and processes that are robust and well controlled for period end close and audit purposes.
  6. Continually look at ways of improving data integrity and quality, automation, strengthening of controls, operational and reporting efficiency.
  7. Participate in project work or product development initiatives alongside daily responsibilities.
  8. Work closely with the auditors both internal and external to ensure successful completion of the audits in a timely manner.

Qualifications

What we’re looking for

  1. Successful candidates will bring experience of working in a high-volume, complex and dynamic environment in a complex, regulatory environment, ideally within traditional finance, banking or payments/fintech.
  2. ACA qualified or equivalent. You will also hold practical knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
  3. 2+ years work experience with complex balance sheet reconciliations in a high-volume transaction environment.
  4. Knowledge and expertise on financial accounting, reporting, reconciliations and controls experience ideally within a listed environment or large complex company.
  5. Extremely strong working knowledge of MS Excel.
  6. Strong data analytics skills and experience handling large volumes of data.
  7. Proven ability to find end-to-end solutions to issues and work cross-functionally and with remote teams – including Finance, Product, Engineering, Data.
  8. Fluency in English and excellent communication skills at all levels.
  9. Fast learner, able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
