Job Title: Logistics Engineer
Salary: £39,000 + (Depending on experience)
Location: Shrewsbury

About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat and Perkins engines that power over 5000 applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary
An exciting opportunity for a Logistics Engineer has arisen within the Supply Chain team at Caterpillar Shrewsbury. The role is unique within the department and allows the successful individual the ability to interface with all departments across site, as well as multiple Customers and Suppliers both domestically and internationally.
What You Will Do:
- Applying process improvement tools and assisting with the implementation of efficient and competitive logistics solutions.
- Coordinating with all business functions to define critical parameters and develop plans for process control and improvements.
- Maintaining the internal logistics process engineering standards, knowledge, and tools; Assuring their implementation in current and new operations.
- Evaluating logistics processes and workflows, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions for process-related concerns.
What You Have:
- Degree or equivalent experience desired
Collaborating: Knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
Materials Handling and Management: Knowledge of material handling and management in plants; ability to perform, monitor and improve processes related to storage, transportation and handling of raw and hazardous materials.
Problem Management Process – QAD: Knowledge of manufacturing problem management processes, methodologies and techniques; ability to use a disciplined approach to bringing that problem to a successful resolution.
