MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a leading consumer goods business on the search for a commercially savvy Retail Merchandiser to join their dynamic customer team. This is a permanent role based in Bradford with hybrid working available.

This role plays a crucial part in translating customer insight and retail data into profitable business plans that drive both performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver key merchandising KPIs across planning, trading, and forecasting.
  • Partner closely with customer teams to build robust account plans, incorporating sales, budget, and SKU-level decisions.
  • Analyse customer data, insights, and trends to shape and influence product, supply chain, and financial strategies.
  • Forecast accurately across total business, account, caption, or line levels, driving clear commercial decisions.
  • Identify risks and opportunities through trading analysis and use this insight to forward-plan effectively.
  • Manage stock allocation to meet customer plans while minimising stock exposure.
  • Support the range selection process with data-led recommendations.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships with supply chain, category, and commercial teams to ensure seamless product delivery.
  • Lead the drive for continuous improvement, identifying efficiencies and opportunities to increase profitability.

What we’re looking for?

  • Proven experience in a retail merchandising or planning role, ideally within the FMCG or retail sector.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with forecasting tools – knowledge of Tableau is highly advantageous.
  • A confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels and present data clearly and persuasively.
  • A natural relationship builder who thrives in a collaborative environment.
  • A detail-oriented planner, capable of balancing short-term trading with longer-term strategy.
  • Strong awareness of the retail landscape and consumer trends, with an eye for risk mitigation and opportunity spotting.
